First Bite: Apple Purée

Yields: About 24 ounces

Tools Needed:
Vegetable peeler
Apple corer
Stainless steel steamer insert
Containers {glass jars, reusable pouches, etc.}

4 medium organic apples {preferably Gala or Honeycrisp}
1/2 cup purified water


  1. Wash apples thoroughly and core with an apple corer. Using a vegetable peeler or sharp paring knife, peel the apples and cut into wedges.
  2. Add enough water to cover the bottom of a medium saucepan and add the steamer insert into the pot. Place the apples into the steamer and cover with lid. Steam until soft, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add the steamed apples and purified water to a blender and purée until desired smoothness is achieved.
  4. Allow to cool before storing/serving.
